Bare and Bones

from Bare and Bones by Candace Coker Music

/

about

This song is my anthem for life. It's a song of surrender to God, humanity and life. It's a promise to live life more vulnerably (bare) and to stop despising or trying to hide from my humanity (bones). It's about finding freedom in being exposed before God and the people that really love you. It's about finding freedom in being exposed to your own self, and owning who you are and what you see. Most times, meaningful change kinda starts there.

lyrics

Verse 1
I'm all fully sold
I'm all calloused soles
I'm all prodigal son come home oh
I'm all bare and bones

Verse 2
I'm all torn up clothes (Echo: I'm all torn up clothes)
I'm all Father's robes (Echo: I'm all Father's robes)
I'm all undeserved mercy come close
I'm all bare and bones

Chorus
Rise, oh Sun, over the day
Shine rose gold on my skin
’Til I’m exposed

Verse 3
I'm all miles to go (Echo: I'm all miles to go)
I'm 'Goodnight Control' (Echo: I'm 'Goodnight Control')
I’m all dive in despite the cold oh I'm all bare and bones
Oh I’m all bare and bones

Chorus
Rise, oh Sun, over the day
Shine rose gold on my skin oh
‘Til I’m exposed
Expose
Expose
Expose
Expose
Expose
Expose
Expose
Expose

Candace Coker is a Trinidad-born artist who brings an evocative blend of poetry, gospel and musicality to the world of alternative-folk. Her sound carries with it a jazzy softness and a neo-soul grit, which she attributes to her love for the 1940s, as well as her Afro-Caribbean roots.

Her music is a call to experience life poetically, to revel in beauty and to chase the 'more' of life.
